Bally’s Kansas City has renewed its Class B license, allowing it to operate its casino in the “City of Fountains” through June 29, 2029.
The Missouri Gaming Commission approved the renewal at its June 25 meeting.
It’s now been two years since Bally’s KC put the finishing touches on a $40 million project that expanded the complex by 35,000 square feet and added 200 slot machines and a high-limit slots section.
Bally’s behind other KC casinos in May
Bally’s Kansas City has been operating the casino at 1800 E. Front Street since purchasing the Isle of Capri Casino in 2020 and rebranding it.
The company holds both a Class A license, giving it the ability to manage multiple Class B licenses, and a Class B license, which allows the license-holder to operate an excursion gambling boat and gaming facility at a specific location.
Bally’s Kansas City is one of 13 casinos operating in the Show Me State. Its adjusted gross revenue in May was close to $11.8 million, which put it last out of the four casinos that serve Kansas City and eighth in the state. Revenue was down 0.9% from the previous May, with year-over-year gains of 5.4% in slots receipts offsetting a 43% drop in table gaming.
Around 124,500 patrons visited the casino in May, up 1.1% over the previous year. The casino is open 24/7, except for an hour on Wednesdays from 5 a.m. to 6 a.m.
Bally’s KC will probably seek a retail sports betting license
Bally’s Kansas City is expected to apply for a retail sports betting license before the Sept. 12 deadline. There are 19 retail licenses available for Missouri sports betting, which begins on Dec. 1.
Bally Bet Sportsbook currently operates in 11 states and runs retail sportsbooks at a number of its properties, including casinos in Atlantic City, NJ; Rock Island, IL; Evansville, IL; and its DraftKings Sportsbook at Casino Queen in East St. Louis, IL.
