Parlay Bet Missouri – Combine Bets for Bigger Wins

Parlay betting is one of the most exciting ways to wager on sporting events, and the top parlay betting sites give players plenty of options to combine multiple picks into a single wager. Whether you’re brand new to wagering or already an experienced bettor, understanding how parlays and same-game parlays work is key to making the most of your wagers.

On this page, I’ll cover what parlays are, how payouts work, and which sports are best suited for them. I also share details about parlay betting at the most popular Missouri sportsbooks, including where to find the best odds, features like parlay insurance, and tips to maximize value.

What is a parlay in betting?

Parlays are among the most popular types of wagers.  At its core, betting on a parlay means combining two or more individual wagers into a single wager. Instead of placing separate wagers on each outcome, you link them together so that all of your selections must win for the parlay to pay out. If even one leg loses, the entire bet is graded as a loss.

Since parlays are “all-or-nothing”-type bets like this, they carry more risk than straight bets, but they also come with significantly higher potential payouts since the odds are multiplied together. This is what separates parlays from single wagers. A single wager pays only on that individual result, giving you a steadier chance to win, while a parlay stacks multiple outcomes into one ticket. For those who really want to stretch their luck, some sites accept parlays for futures betting.

Many bettors in the state and across the US enjoy parlays because of the excitement factor. With a parlay bet, small stakes can sometimes turn into big wins. That mix of higher reward and added sweat has made parlays one of the most popular wager types at sites. And now that Missouri has introduced legal online wagering, new players will often see parlays featured front and center at most sites.

Not all sites are created equal when it comes to parlay betting. The best parlay betting sites stand out for features like competitive odds, flexible same-game parlay builders, parlay insurance promotions, and early cash-out options that give bettors more control over their wagers.

Casual players might prefer user-friendly apps like Fanatics or BetRivers, while sharp bettors often gravitate toward Circa for its competitive pricing.

Same-game parlay betting explained

A same-game parlay (SGP) is a type of wager that lets you combine multiple wagers from a single event into one parlay ticket. For example, in a football game, you might bet on the point spread, the over/under, and a player prop all at once. Because the outcomes are linked, the odds multiply quickly, which makes SGPs riskier than regular parlays but also more exciting.

SGPs have exploded in popularity because they let bettors build highly personalized wagers. Bettors can track how they are doing on each leg of their parlay by focusing on just one game. Sites now compete to offer better SGP tools, more betting markets within a game, and promos tied to these wagers. Many of the top apps highlight SGPs as a signature feature.

When it comes to same-game parlays, a few sites clearly stand out for odds, flexibility, and promos. DraftKings and FanDuel are widely regarded as leaders thanks to their powerful SGP builders, while Caesars and BetMGM often sweeten the deal with insurance or odds boosts. If you’re looking for smooth navigation and in-play options, the Bet Builder at bet365 is a strong choice.

Here are a few tips to keep in mind when betting same-game parlays:

  • Often, you can only include certain wagers in your same-game parlays. To give an example, you usually can’t combine both a moneyline bet and a spread bet in an SGP. Nor could you combine Patrick Mahomes throwing 2+ TDs with the Kansas City Chiefs scoring over a team total of 28.5 points. When you create SGPs online, you’ll see that the sites simply don’t let you put certain bets in your wager if they aren’t allowed.
  • Sites do consider the relative correlation of your bets when calculating SGP odds. For instance, say you’re betting on a Kansas City Royals MLB game and you bet on both the over (-110) and for a player to get 2+ total bases (+125). The odds for your SGP bet might be +225. However, if you bet the under (also at -110) and that same player prop (still +125), you might find the odds for your SGP wager will be longer at +350.
  • Payout rules and promos can be different for SGPs. For example, early cashout options or parlay insurance promos that apply to multi-game parlays might not extend to same-game parlays. Always check the rules so you know whether your SGP qualifies for those perks.

Sites with the best SGP odds

As far as SGP odds are concerned, sites with better odds, generally speaking, tend to give you higher payouts when you put together same-game parlays.

I performed a test across eight different sites recently in which I entered the same three legs into an SGP bet for an upcoming St. Louis Cardinals game. I combined a totals bet (over 7.5 runs), a prop that Alec Burleson would hit a home run, and another prop that Andre Pallante would record more than 3.5 strikeouts.

The individual odds for these bets were fairly similar across the sites — around -110 for the totals bet, mostly in the +700 to +750 range for the HR prop, and about even money (+100 or so) for the strikeouts prop. Here were the odds for my SGP wager at those eight sites:

  • bet365 — +2700
  • BetMGM — +2500
  • Underdog — +2450
  • Fanatics — +2250
  • FanDuel — +2214
  • Caesars — +2150
  • DraftKings — +2100
  • ESPN Bet — +1918

Your mileage may vary (as they say), but this breakdown resembles what my experience has been on these particular sites. The bet365 Sportsbook routinely offers great odds, especially for parlays. And ESPN Bet tends to have shorter odds, generally speaking, although you might find some contests or sports produce different results than these.

In any case, when putting together parlays (including SGPs), pay attention to those final odds and make sure the price looks good to you before submitting your bet.

Features that add value to parlays

One reason parlays are so popular is that many sites add extra features to make them even more appealing. Two of the most common are parlay insurance and early cashouts, both of which can provide players with more flexibility and security when building multi-leg wagers.

Parlay insurance is a promo that gives you your stake back — usually as site credit or a bonus bet — if just one leg of your parlay loses. For example, if you place a five-leg parlay and hit four of them but miss the fifth, parlay insurance helps cushion the disappointment by refunding some or all of your wager. This feature is a favorite among recreational bettors because it makes taking a shot on longer parlays feel less risky.

Early cashouts allow you to settle a parlay before all legs are complete. Depending on how your first few wagers are going, the site might offer you the chance to lock in a guaranteed payout, which could be smaller than the full potential win but saves you from a total loss if later legs don’t go your way. Cashouts are dynamic, so the value offered changes based on live odds and game circumstances.

Which sites offer these parlay features?

Most of the major sites — including DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars, and bet365 — support both parlay insurance and early cashouts, often with creative twists. DraftKings, for example, has run a “Ghost Leg” promo on NFL betting parlays that lets you miss one leg and still get paid out, making it especially appealing during football season.

For early cashouts, imagine you place a $25 three-leg parlay on an NBA slate with a potential payout of $200. After the first two legs are won, your site might offer a $110 cashout option before the final game tips off. Taking it guarantees profit, while declining it keeps you in for the full payout. Keep in mind that the early cashout option isn’t always available. Some sites exclude certain parlays, live bets, or wagers made with sports betting bonuses from this feature.

Understanding parlay odds and payouts

One of the main appeals of parlays is the potential for big payouts. When you combine multiple bets into a single parlay, the odds of each leg are multiplied together, producing a payout much larger than you’d get from single wagers. The trade-off, of course, is risk — if even one leg loses, your entire parlay loses. That’s why a two-leg parlay has much higher win probability than, say, a six-leg one, but the payouts for longer parlays can be tempting.

To put it into perspective, consider these scenarios with each leg priced at -110 (typical spread odds):

Parlay sizeExample $10 wager payout (approx.)
2-leg$26 total return
3-leg$59 total return
5-leg$243 total return
10-leg$6,360 total return

These examples show how parlays scale dramatically, but also highlight the steep drop in probability of hitting all the legs.

Is there an optimal size parlay?

There’s no magic number, but most experienced bettors avoid going too large. Two- to four-leg parlays often strike the best balance between risk and reward, especially when combined with features like parlay insurance. Once you start stacking six or more legs, the probability of success drops sharply, making them more of a lottery-style play than a consistent betting strategy.

Parlay odds calculator

To help you calculate your parlays, use our parlay odds calculator below, one of our many free betting tools.

First, enter your wager amount. Then add the odds for each of the legs of your parlay (next to “Team #1 Moneyline,” etc.). The bets don’t have to be moneyline wagers — just add the odds for each bet. If your parlay has more than three legs, click “Add Team Moneyline” once for each additional leg. If your parlay has only two legs, just leave the third row blank.

Once you’ve entered all the odds, go below and click “Calculate” to see what the overall odds are, what the implied probability of winning is, and also what a winning wager will pay.

You can use this tool to compare the actual parlay odds with what the site is offering, which in some cases may not correspond exactly to the price you should be getting.

Risk vs. reward in parlay betting

Betting on a parlay is the classic high-risk, high-reward play. By stringing together multiple legs, you’re chasing long-shot payouts that can turn a small stake into a big win. The downside is obvious: one wrong pick means the entire parlay loses, which is why sites profit heavily from players who bet parlays exclusively. They’re exciting, but they’re not the most reliable way to build long-term profits.

That’s why bankroll management is key. Many experienced bettors limit parlays to a small portion of their overall betting budget, keeping most of their action on straight bets or smaller, safer parlays. A good practice is to bet only what you can afford to lose on parlays, treat them as “fun” wagers rather than core strategy, and avoid chasing losses with bigger or longer tickets.

When betting parlays and other types of wagers at your favorite site, look for the responsible gambling tools that are built into all regulated apps. These include deposit limits, loss limits, time reminders, and self-exclusion programs to help you keep control of your play. Using these tools can help you enjoy the thrill of parlay betting without putting your finances or well-being at risk.

Which sports are best for parlay betting?

Football is often the most parlay-friendly sport, both at the NFL and college levels. With so many games each week, plus a wide menu of props and alternate lines, bettors can build parlays that mix spreads, totals, and player stats. In Missouri, the focus tends to be on the Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs — especially at KC Chiefs bars. But college football betting gets a lot of attention as well.

Basketball is another strong option, thanks to the NBA and NCAA offering daily games with dozens of betting markets. Player props are especially popular in basketball parlays, as bettors like combining totals for points, rebounds, and assists with spreads or moneylines. The fast pace and frequent scoring create plenty of opportunities for same-game parlays.

Baseball and hockey also attract parlay bettors because of the sheer number of games each season, though they can be less predictable. Missouri fans often look to the St. Louis Cardinals or St. Louis Blues when building combos, while niche sports like soccer, UFC, and tennis can sometimes be useful for mixing in favorites and underdogs to boost overall odds in a cross-sport parlay.

  • Football (NFL & NCAA): Lots of weekly games; props and alt lines make for creative builds
  • Basketball (NBA & NCAA): Daily action with dozens of props; great for same-game parlays combining player totals
  • Baseball (MLB): 162-game season creates endless options; underdogs often offer value
  • Hockey (NHL): Low-scoring games make totals/props appealing
  • Soccer, MMA, Tennis: Good for mixing in favorites/underdogs; global events expand options
  • Football (NFL & NCAA): Higher juice on props; injuries can swing outcomes quickly
  • Basketball (NBA & NCAA): Blowouts can limit player minutes; odds may be shorter on stars
  • Baseball (MLB): Variance can be high — one bad inning can kill a leg (and thus your entire parlay)
  • Hockey (NHL): Overtime/shootouts can swing outcomes unpredictably
  • Soccer, MMA, Tennis: Lower familiarity may increase risk; lines can move fast
