Situated on the Missouri River just east of downtown Kansas City, Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City is one of the state’s most popular gambling destinations, featuring a 140,000-square-foot gambling floor packed with slots and table games. In fact, Ameristar Kansas City has one of the largest slot selections of any of the 13 Missouri riverboat casinos.
Conveniently located less than a half-hour drive from the Kansas City International Airport, Ameristar Casino Kansas City is also near multiple theme parks and in proximity to Arrowhead Stadium (home of the Chiefs) and Kauffman Stadium (home of the Royals). However, with plenty of amenities and restaurants, an entertainment center, and a vast selection of games, guests tend to spend most of their time on the gambling floor.

Missouri has now legalized wagering on sports, with the launch of Missouri sports betting both online and in person starting in December 2025. When the licenses were announced, it was revealed that Ameristar Casino had partnered with Fanatics Sportsbook to provide retail betting services.
Fanatics also operates retail sportsbooks at casinos in several other states, including Maryland, Ohio, New Jersey, Arizona, Colorado, and Connecticut. Fanatics has teamed with Ameristar for retail wagering at the Ameristar Casino Resort Spa St. Charles location as well.

There is much more to do at Ameristar Kansas City beyond gambling at the property. The luxury hotel features 184 rooms and suites, with an accompanying five-level, 2,660-space parking deck. The property features seven dining venues, an 18-screen movie theater, a children’s entertainment complex, and a video arcade.
There is a concert venue as well, the 1,332-seat Star Pavilion where musical and comedy acts frequently perform. The property also has 15,000 square feet of meeting and conference space.
Boyd Rewards
Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City in Kansas City, MO, lets you participate in the Boyd Rewards loyalty program. Guests and gambling patrons can accumulate tier credits and earn rewards such as free and discounted hotel stays, discounted food and retail purchases, free and discounted flights, cruise packages, B Memorable experiences, and annual gifts.
The number of tier credits you accumulate in a year improves your Boyd Rewards status. The program features five tiers:

- Onyx
- Titanium
Participants also accumulate Boyd Points whenever they play games or spend money at the property. You can redeem these points for various rewards as indicated by your tier status.
The program applies across more than two dozen properties in the US, including many in Las Vegas and throughout the Midwest.
Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City history
The property first opened as Station Casino in January 1997. Ameristar Casinos then acquired and rebranded the Kansas City casino in 2000. In 2013, Pinnacle Entertainment acquired Ameristar Casinos and three years later sold Ameristar Kansas City to Gaming and Leisure Properties, which then leased the property back to Pinnacle.
Since Pinnacle already owned and operated other Missouri properties, in 2018 the Federal Trade Commission required the company to divest some of its MO properties to ensure competitiveness. Boyd Gaming acquired Ameristar Casino Hotel in October 2018 and has operated it since then.
The property has been one of the largest since its first opening. Originally, it was a genuine “floating casino” with twin boats that regularly set sail on short two-hour cruises as was necessary under Missouri law. That cruising requirement ended in 1996, however. Another big legal change affecting Ameristar Kansas City happened in 2008 when voters did away with a $500 “loss limit” that previously prevented patrons from purchasing more than $500 in casino chips during a two-hour period.
Today, Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City routinely earns the highest monthly revenue of KC-area casinos and ranks near the top of the list among properties across the state.
