ESPN Bet Sportsbook has been rebranded as theScore Bet Sportsbook
ESPN Bet Sportsbook has been rebranded as theScore Bet Sportsbook

The first wave of new online sports wagering sites in Missouri includes theScore Bet Sportsbook, which has been newly rebranded from ESPN Bet Sportsbook. Users in other states will find theScore Bet Sportsbook is nearly identical to the old ESPN Bet. The site is operated by PENN Entertainment and utilizes the same PENN Play tech stack as ESPN Bet did. Having wagered on the ESPN Bet app and site for some time, I’ve found it to be a solid, if not top-tier, option for sports fans. Please note that there is currently no theScore Bet promo code or ESPN Bet promo code available for Missouri. Read my complete and honest review below, where I walk you through how to create an account, claim the welcome offer, and explore the main betting options.

Meanwhile, check out some of the other Missouri online sportsbooks that have gone live with terrific welcome offers for new sign-ups below.

theScore Bet Sportsbook overall ratings | 4.2/5 stars

As noted above, theScore Bet Sportsbook is essentially the same as ESPN Bet, differing only in branding. PENN Entertainment is the operator, and theScore Bet uses the same PENN Play tech stack ESPN Bet had used. I’ve had an account at ESPN Bet for nearly two years, and the following ratings and comments below are all based on my experience using it.

Welcome offer at theScore Bet Sportsbook | 4.0/5 stars

Currently, ESPN Bet is offering a “Bet $10, Get $100” welcome bonus for new sign-ups, which is similar to other Missouri online sportsbook promotions. Typically, no ESPN Bet promo code was required when signing up for an account — none was needed when I first signed up. That’s also the case here, as there is no need to enter a theScore Bet promo code Missouri to get the offer.

theScore Bet welcome offer: How it works

Upon creating an account, you must deposit at least $10 and then wager $10 or more on any market, and in return, you’ll receive $100 in bonus bets regardless of how your wagers go.

You’ll receive them as five $20 bonus bets, and if you win with them, you only get the winnings back (not the stake amount). You can’t withdraw the bonus bets — you have to wager them. You have seven days to do so, or they’ll expire. Like I said, just like there was no ESPN Bet promo code Missouri, nor is there any theScore Bet promo code needed. Just deposit and place your bet, and you’re good to go.

This is a decent offer, and I found it a nice way to get a small bankroll going on the site.

theScore Bet welcome offer: How it compares

One downside of the theScore Bet welcome offer is that you have to use your bonus bets in $20 chunks. I prefer being able to divide bonus bets into smaller increments as other sites allow.

For example, bet365 Sportsbook has a similar “bet-and-get” type welcome offer for new users, “Bet $10, Get $365 in Bonus Bets Win or Lose.” Not only do you get more bonus bets in return than is the case at theScore Bet, but once you do, bet365 lets you split those bonus bets up into any size you like.

On the plus side, at both theScore Bet and bet365, it doesn’t matter if you win or lose your initial bet — you get the bonus bets either way. Sometimes other sites require you to win that first wager to get the bonus.

Ongoing promotions and rewards at theScore Bet

When I first signed up at ESPN Bet over a year ago, there were relatively few ongoing ESPN Bet promos compared to other sites. The ones I saw often didn’t have a lot of value, involving multi-leg parlays or relatively longshot props such as “Player to Score the First Basket,” which I normally wouldn’t bet on.

Things have improved in that regard recently, however, and there are usually several different offers available. I expect these same offers to remain available at theScore Bet. Click “See All” on the “Promos” section to see all the current promotions. Also check out the “Boosts” tab for odds boosts on specific games each day. Here’s a quick list of theScore Bet promos to look for:

  • Profit boosts — often adding a 20% boost to your payout for parlays wagered on a specific sport; look as well for “profit boost packs” that offer multiple profit boosts to use on a particular game or sport
  • Live bet & get bonuses — make a live wager and receive a bonus bet (e.g., wager $50 on an EPL match, get a $10 bonus bet)
  • Odds boosts — including game- and league-specific boosts; in the past, there were ESPN show tie-ins like “Get Up Odds Boosts” and “First Take Odds Boosts,” usually focused on player props, which likely will be replaced with other promos going forward
  • Weekly ticket giveaways — wager on a particular sport and be entered into a drawing awarding up to $200 in
  • Bet insurance — get up to a certain amount back in bonus bets if you lose your wager; these include “injury insurance” on certain player props
  • Overtime protection — a way to get your bet back (in bonus bets) if you lose a moneyline wager in OT

That actually just scratches the surface. There are refer-a-friend bonuses, “Play of the Week” challenges, and the PENN Play loyalty program that awards bonus bets, cash back, and PENN Play credits for your play.

I probably should take more advantage of these numerous promotions, as there are quite a few of them and many more than were the case when I first opened my account.

How to sign up at theScore Bet

Signing up at ESPN Bet was quick and straightforward for me, and I expect the same will be the case at theScore Bet. When I registered my account, the entire process took me just a few minutes to complete. After entering my name, email, and the last four digits of my Social Security Number for verification, the app automatically confirmed my eligibility to bet on the site.

I also liked that the welcome offer was automatically applied to my new account without requiring a promo code, making the entire process smooth and hassle-free.

  • How theScore Bet compares: It’s a clean, easy app with mostly competitive odds and improving promos. While DraftKings Sportsbook and FanDuel Sportsbook still lead on depth and polish, ESPN Bet is a perfectly solid choice for Missouri bettors, especially if you value Quick Bets and ESPN-branded integrations.

theScore Bet Sportsbook app and website experience | 4.2/5 stars

In my experience, I found the app to be much more preferable to the web version of ESPN Bet. Read on for details.

theScore Bet app review

The theScore Bet mobile app is available for both iOS and Android devices. The dark theme, bold typography, and clean layout make it easy to find live games, featured bets, and trending markets at a glance.

Navigation is smooth, with intuitive tabs for “Home,” “Live,” and “My Bets,” and the Quick Bets feature is conveniently integrated for fast, single-tap wagering. The bet slip slides up fluidly and is simple to edit before confirming a wager. The app could still be snappier during live events, but overall, it delivers a sharp, quality experience that’s both visually appealing and functional for everyday bettors.

ESPN Bet app

theScore Bet site design and navigation

The theScore Bet desktop site mirrors the sleek, modern look of its mobile app, with a dark theme and clean layout that highlights live games, featured odds, and trending matchups. Sports and leagues are listed clearly in the left-hand menu, while the bet slip and cashier are always accessible from the right-hand sidebar. Account settings and support options are easily accessible through the profile icon at the top of the page. Live chat support opens in a responsive pop-up window for quick assistance.

Accessing the site on a desktop requires downloading and installing a GeoComply browser plug-in to verify your location. When I first started using the ESPN Bet site, everything worked smoothly on my MacBook. However, I later encountered issues with consistent location verification, a reminder that the desktop version can be somewhat finicky compared to the more reliable mobile app.

On the ESPN Bet site and app, a variety of live-streamed games were available, accessible through both the app and the website. However, you had to have a subscription to ESPN through a traditional TV provider to watch games shown on ESPN networks. We’ll see what theScore Bet offers in terms of live streaming going forward.

Bet types and sports markets at theScore Bet | 4.2/5 stars

theScore Bet covers the full slate of action most bettors expect, with full coverage of NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, college football, and college basketball, plus soccer, tennis, golf, MMA, motorsports, and more. Particularly for major professional and college sports, a single contest will offer literally hundreds of pregame wagers, and often, there will be a large menu of live betting opportunities as well.

Here’s how theScore Bet handles some of the more popular bet types:

  • Moneylines, spreads, totals: Clean presentation, quick updates, and solid depth on every major game.
  • Futures: Full league coverage (champions, divisions, awards where permitted) with early posting on marquee leagues.
  • Props: Good selection of player/team props on big events; depth thins a bit on smaller conferences and niche sports.
  • Parlays / Same-Game Parlays: Easy builder, clear leg limits, frequent parlay boosts on headline games.
  • Live betting: Responsive interface with plenty of in-play options

Under the heading of live betting, theScore Bet has a feature called “Quick Bets” that makes common live wagers one tap away. Just click the lightning bolt icon within an event and choose from pre-built live betting options (e.g., “Next Play,” “Drive,” “Next Pitch,” etc.).

Evaluating theScore Bet Sportsbook odds

On theScore Bet, lines are presented in a clean, easy-to-scan layout with real-time updates on live markets. In settings, you can toggle between American and decimal odds formats. You can also choose to “Auto accept favorable odds,” which will let you automatically agree to a line change in your favor that occurs after you’ve selected a bet and placed it in your bet slip, but before you’ve submitted it.

Key prices are highlighted on each game tile, while alternate lines expand neatly within the app. An early cash-out option is available on many pre-game and live bets, offering extra control when markets move fast. Value is boosted through daily odds boosts, parlay profit boosts, and limited-time promos. Same-game parlay pricing is transparent in the builder, and the Quick Bets tool keeps popular live lines within one tap.

Overall, ESPN Bet earned a reputation for offering fair and mainstream pricing with ESPN Bet odds, and I think it is fair to assume things will be similar when it comes to theScore Bet odds. Rarely have the odds been sharper than at other sites across all markets, but I’ve found them consistently competitive, with boosts and promotions that add extra upside.

Banking: Deposits and withdrawals at theScore Bet | 4.4/5 stars

I’ve personally had no trouble depositing or withdrawing during my time using ESPN Bet, where I used PayPal for all my transactions. If that’s your preferred method, you should know that the site requires you to link your bank account to your PayPal account in order to use it.

Here’s a table showing all of the available deposit and withdrawal methods at theScore Bet, along with minimums and processing times:

MethodDepositsMinimum / TimeWithdrawalsMinimum / Time
Debit Cards$10 / Instant$10 / ~24 hours
Credit Cards$10 / InstantN/A
Online Banking (Trustly)$10 / Instant$10 / 2-3 business days
VIP Preferred (ACH/e-Check)$10 / Instant$10 / 2-3 business days
PayPal / Venmo / Skrill$10 / Instant$10 / ~24 hours
Apple Pay$10 / InstantN/A
Wire Transfer$10,000 / Within 1 business dayMust have $50K balance to initiate / Within 1 business day
Check by MailN/A$250 / 14-21 business days

For me, the PayPal transactions have been essentially instant in both directions (depositing and cashing out). In other words, when the above table estimates a timeframe of around 24 hours for payouts, in practice, it may be much quicker, depending on the chosen method.

Note also that you can only withdraw from your theScore Bet account using a method that you previously used to deposit (with the exception of check by mail).

Is theScore Sportsbook safe? | Licensing and fair play information

theScore Bet is licensed and regulated by the Missouri Gaming Commission, which oversees all online wagering activity in the state. In Missouri, ESPN Bet partnered with Hollywood Casino St. Louis, a retail partner and license holder of PENN Entertainment, which is the same partner theScore Bet now has in MO.

Site security and data protection

theScore Bet operates on PENN Entertainment’s proprietary in-house technology platform, which it first developed for its Canadian operations. All data and transactions are protected through SSL encryption and multi-factor authentication. Betting systems are regularly tested and certified by independent labs to ensure fairness and integrity.

Where is theScore Bet legal?

The original theScore Bet site launched in Ontario, Canada, where it remains operational. Meanwhile, ESPN Bet was available in many states prior to the announcement that PENN Entertainment would end its partnership and rebrand the site and app as theScore Bet. Now we can add Missouri to this list of sites where theScore Bet is legal and licensed:

  • Arizona
  • Colorado
  • District of Columbia
  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Iowa
  • Kansas

  • Kentucky
  • Louisiana
  • Maryland
  • Massachusetts
  • Michigan
  • Missouri
  • New Jersey

  • New York
  • North Carolina
  • Ohio
  • Pennsylvania
  • Tennessee
  • Virginia
  • West Virginia

Responsible gambling tools at theScore Bet

theScore Bet provides robust responsible gaming controls, including the ability to set deposit, spending, and session time limits right from your account dashboard. Players can also choose to opt for cool-off periods or initiate self-exclusion through the app or the Missouri Gaming Commission’s responsible gaming portal. The site includes links to 1-800-GAMBLER and other national support resources for users seeking help managing their play.

theScore Bet customer support | 4.4/5 stars

ESPN Bet customer support live chatYou’ll find that theScore Bet features solid customer support, starting with a lot of in-app (or on-site) information. That is where I have found answers to most questions I have had about the site. On your “Account” page, go to “Help” and you’ll see a collection of betting guides and other categories, including a detailed Betting Rules section and an extensive FAQ section.

If you click “Contact Support,” you have two options: Live chat (agents available 24/7) and email.

When I recently used live chat, I first encountered an AI-driven “Betty Bot” that wasn’t terribly helpful. When I asked to speak to a live agent, I was then required to enter my email address, full name, and date of birth. From there, it was only a few seconds before the agent arrived (“Anthony C.”), and he was pleasant and prompt when answering my questions.

Anthony did try to end our chat early once, and at the end, he said there would be a survey to fill out, but instead, I was bounced back to Betty Bot. After we were done, I immediately received an email transcript of my chat session as well.

I’ve shared a screenshot of my conversation with Anthony C., in which I inquired about the change from ESPN Bet to theScore Bet. He confirmed that the site will essentially be the same going forward.

All in all, I’d rate live chat support highly and appreciate having that available at all times.

I also tested the email support, and promptly received a helpful response back later on the same day. I wouldn’t imagine that would be most users’ first choice, but it also works well.

theScore Bet Sportsbook app reviews | What others are saying

Prior to the branding change, the ESPN Bet app earned high marks from users at both the App Store and Google Play. Apple/iOS users gave it an average rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars, while Android users at Google Play rated it 4.6 out of 5. There won’t be an ESPN Bet Missouri app, as the rebranding is happening prior to launch in MO. Look for theScore Bet Missouri app in either the App Store or Google Play.

Those who liked the app mentioned the bonuses and promos, the ability to live stream games, and the odds being mostly competitive. Meanwhile, some users complained about withdrawal issues, being locked out of their accounts, or experiencing other technical problems.

theScore Bet Sportsbook FAQs

Yes, theScore Bet is licensed by the Missouri Gaming Commission through its partnership with PENN Entertainment.

Yes, according to customer support, the newly rebranded theScore Bet Sportsbook is essentially the same as ESPN Bet, with only the logo changing.

You must be 21 or older and physically located within the state of Missouri to place bets through theScore Bet app or website.

theScore Bet covers all major US leagues (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, NCAA) as well as global markets, including soccer, golf, MMA, and tennis.

You can live-stream games at ESPN Bet, but it remains to be seen what theScore Bet offers in terms of live streaming.

Yes, theScore Bet allows early cash-out on many pre-game and live wagers, giving you flexibility to lock in profits or limit losses before a game ends.

Is theScore Bet worth it? Here’s the verdict

During its two-year run from late 2023 to late 2025, ESPN Bet evolved into a reliable and well-designed betting platform, featuring smooth navigation, solid odds, and stronger promotions than in its early days. I expect that as it continues forward as theScore Bet, it will continue to grow and hopefully improve.

The site doesn’t offer as many features or bonuses as DraftKings or FanDuel, and personally, I generally go to those sites or a couple of others, including BetMGM Sportsbook, first when placing wagers. That said, the site is probably still worth checking out if you’re looking to add another secondary option to your list of sites. Again, much as there was no ESPN Bet promo code needed, you won’t need to enter any theScore Bet Missouri promo code, either, when signing up.
