Century Casino Caruthersville

Century Casino Caruthersville is one of two Century Casino properties in Missouri and is the smaller of the two. It has between 500 and 600 slot machines and fewer than a dozen table games on the casino floor. However, its location puts it in a key strategic area for both residents of southeastern Missouri and visitors from nearby states.

Century Casino Caruthersville is located in the bootheel of Missouri. Thus, even though its closest city in Missouri is St. Louis, the closest large metropolitan area is actually Memphis, Tennessee, located about an hour and a half away. Furthermore, Caruthersville is roughly equidistant from St. Louis and the other large city in Tennessee, Nashville.

As a smaller location, Century Casino Caruthersville’s amenities hardly resemble what you would find in a full-scale Las Vegas-style casino resort, but there is a food option if you get hungry. The venue has also recently purchased and is renovating a hotel for guests to use, but there is no current timeline for its debut.

Here’s a rundown of what you can expect to find at Century Casino Caruthersville. Note that you must be 21 or older to play any of the casino’s games.

Games at Century Casino Caruthersville

Century Casino Caruthersville is one of the smaller casino properties in Missouri, though not the smallest in the state. Its position places it between Arkansas to the west and Tennessee to the east, although it is much closer to Tennessee — on the border, in fact.

Here’s a look at the games available at Century Casino Caruthersville.

Slot machines

Slot machines are the most prevalent game at every casino in the US, including at Century Casino Caruthersville. The property in southeastern Missouri has just over 500 machines, which is far fewer than many other Missouri casinos. More than 80% of the slots at Century Casino Caruthersville are penny slots, but you can play on slots with buy-ins as high as $5 per spin. Here are some of the best slots titles you’ll find:

  • Day of the Dead
  • Lightning Link
  • Lock-It Link
  • Ultimate Fire Links
  • Wonder Woman Wild

In addition to these games and others, there are also several video poker machines that you can use if you are so inclined. There are also two electronic table games on the premises, which are branded machines for Video Blackjack (Interblock Gaming) and Fusion Electronic Roulette (Light & Wonder)

Table games

In addition to the hundreds of slot machines at Century Casino Caruthersville, there are also a half-dozen table games available, including the following options:

  • Craps
  • Mississippi Stud
  • Three Card Poker
  • Trilux Blackjack with Super 3

There is no poker room at Century Casino Caruthersville. The relatively remote location of the property and small size does not yield enough floor space and interest to sustain even a small room.

Is Century Casino Caruthersville going to have a sportsbook?

It’s not clear at present whether Century Casino Caruthersville would launch a sportsbook should Missouri decide to legalize sports betting.

Parent company Century Casinos already has sports betting as part of its overall portfolio. It owns and operates Century Casino Central City in Colorado, which has a sportsbook. Century is also partnered with Tipico Sportsbook for online sports betting in Colorado.

However, Century Casino Caruthersville is a very small location and does not have an abundance of floor space in which to set aside a sports betting area. Any sportsbook would need to be a modest operation. It might have a teller window or two, but a few kiosks would be more likely.

The good news for inhabitants of the region around Century Casino Caruthersville is that you have other legal sports betting options nearby. Both Arkansas and Tennessee offer online sportsbooks, and Arkansas has some retail books if you prefer to bet in person.

Amenities at Century Casino Caruthersville

Non-gambling amenities at Century Casino Caruthersville are rather sparse. There are no entertainment venues or shopping at the property. The only option you have is the Waterside Express, a casual dining restaurant on the casino floor. It is open six days a week for lunch and dinner.

As we noted, there is no hotel on the premises, but renovations are underway on a recently purchased site nearby called The Farmstead. Century Casino Caruthersville is planning for the farmhouse-inspired lodging to offer a “uniquely fresh take on the country living inspired style.” It is possible to view the ongoing renovations through a live stream.

Meanwhile, there is an RV park on the site. You can rent a space for $50 a night (plus tax).

The Winner’s Zone loyalty program

The Winner’s Zone is Century Casinos’ loyalty program. All players may join the program for free. Each dollar you spend at Century Casino Caruthersville or other Century locations generates Century Points for your account. You can redeem these points for food, lodging, bonus play at Century locations, and items in Century gift shops.

As is often the case with casino rewards programs, the Winner’s Zone uses a tiered system. Players who spend more money on site are able to collect awards of higher value and more frequently. You can track your progress through the tiers on the Winner’s Zone app.

Earning points is probably not worth a special trip to Century Casino Caruthersville and shouldn’t be your primary focus. But a free meal or free hotel room can be a nice benefit if you’re tired from a day at the tables or the slots.

History of Century Casino Caruthersville

For such a modest casino property, the number of times that Century Casino Caruthersville has changed ownership is a bit surprising. Although its ownership remained stable for a decade or so after its debut in April 1995, the property has changed hands frequently since 2007.

The Caruthersville location began as the Casino Aztar Caruthersville in 1995. Its initial owner was Aztar Corp., a spinoff company that took over Ramada Inn’s gambling operations in 1989 and owned, among other properties, the Tropicana locations in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Aztar managed the casino for twelve years until its own purchase by hospitality company Columbia Sussex.

Columbia Sussex ran into trouble, however, when it was unable to obtain a license to operate casinos in Missouri. Thus, the new owner had to scramble to find a buyer and ended up accepting a bid from Isle of Capri Casinos in 2007 for less than the property’s original construction costs.

The Isle of Capri rebranded the property as Lady Luck Casino Caruthersville in 2008. The property operated as Lady Luck until Isle of Capri’s 2017 acquisition by Eldorado Resorts. Eldorado retained the property as the Lady Luck for two years before selling it to its present owner, Century Casinos, which rebranded the property once again.

At the time, Century indicated its plan to acquire and renovate a nearby hotel to expand the property, and that work remains in progress.
