The poker room also offers multiple promotions. For one thing, MyChoice Rewards members can earn comps for their play. There are also bad beat jackpots available for both hold ’em and Omaha games. Finally, there may be special hand jackpots available at one time or another, such as the following:

  • Aces win or lose

  • Made hands
  • Quads cracked
  • Sets cracked

Free games at myChoice Casino

We should also mention myChoice Casino, a social casino that is free to play and offers the chance to try some of the games you’ll find on the floor at Hollywood Casino St. Louis.

The games are for fun and entertainment only, and playing them does not offer comps or other casino perks. Even so, you can still scratch your itch to play without harming your bankroll.

Will Hollywood Casino St. Louis have a sportsbook?

If Missouri decides to legalize sports betting, Hollywood Casino St. Louis would likely add a sportsbook.

Penn National Gaming owns and operates Hollywood. Penn National is a major casino company that also operates Barstool Sportsbook in several states. There is no reason to assume that Hollywood Casino St. Louis won’t have both a retail and an online sportsbook as well should Missouri lawmakers legalize the activities. If that time comes, expect to see another Barstool Sportsbook launching at Hollywood Casino St. Louis.

Hollywood Casino St. Louis amenities

Gambling is not the only thing to do at Hollywood Casino St. Louis in Missouri. There are hundreds of hotel rooms in which to rest and several venues for getting a good meal and seeing a show on the property.

The hotel at Hollywood Casino St. Louis offers more than 400 guest rooms. There are several types of rooms you can choose from, ranging between 320 and 840 square feet. The largest of these rooms, the Rodeo Director Suite, has a luxury bathroom with a jetted tub, a separate living and dining area, and another half-bathroom to boot. However, no matter the choice, the rooms are all well-appointed and offer a pleasant respite from the excitement in the casino below.

In terms of food, there are six options on the premises. The cream of the crop is clearly the Final Cut Steakhouse, which offers a selection of steaks and bourbons for the distinguished palate. You can also get a beer at 99 Hops House, some pasta at Charlie Gitto, a burger at Celebrity Grill, some terrific pho at Phat Tai, or a cup of coffee and a muffin at Hollywood and Grind.

For entertainment, the first place to try is the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre, which hosts some of the best concert events in an indoor/outdoor space. There is also the St. Louis Music Park, which is a 4,500-seat venue at the Centene Community Ice Center, only a short ride away. Finally, in addition to the brews at 99 Hops House, you can also catch a live music show every Saturday night.

MyChoice Rewards program

Most major casinos have rewards programs, and Hollywood Casino & Hotel St. Louis is no exception. Because the casino is part of the Penn National Gaming network, it offers participation in the myChoice Rewards program.

MyChoice Rewards allows you to earn tier points for every dollar that you spend at Hollywood St. Louis or any other Penn National location. As you accumulate these points, you move up the MyChoice tiers. Each successive tier on the program yields increasing benefits to you, like discounts on hotels or dining, bonus play, entries into special promotions, and invitations to special events.

You can also receive rewards as you play. At various tier levels, you will receive mycash, the site credits for Hollywood casinos, as an additional benefit. Mycash is available at the following levels:

  • For every 3,000 tier points, get $10 in mycash
  • For every 5,000 tier points, get $25 in mycash
  • For every 25,000 tier points, get $150 in mycash
  • For every 50,000 tier points, get $500 in mycash

The amounts are not huge, but they certainly can help make the day a bit brighter. Best of all, you earn them just for playing, so there’s no reason not to take advantage.

Hollywood Casino St. Louis history

Hollywood Casino St. Louis has been serving the area since 1997. It began as the Players Island Casino, a joint venture between Players International and Harrah’s Entertainment that unified two casino barges with a parking lot and loading area.

Players International was a small company that emerged in the early days of modern riverboat gambling in the US. It debuted its first riverboat casino in Metropolis, Illinois, in 1993. It would eventually open two more riverboats (including Players Island), a land-based casino in Nevada, and a small horse track in Kentucky.

Players International’s early success depended in large part on the lack of nearby competition in the areas where it operated. As more and more casinos popped up in those regions, the company found it harder to remain profitable. As it happened, Players Island was the last property the company built. After a brief return to profitability in 1999, Players International sold its assets to Harrah’s and ceased to exist.

Harrah’s invested $3 million to rebrand Players Island Casino as Harrah’s St. Louis. The rebrand also featured a small renovation that saw the company joining the two separate parts of the facility into one. The casino emerged with its new name in 2000 and remained Harrah’s St. Louis after Harrah’s purchased Caesars Entertainment in 2010.

The Maryland Heights casino wouldn’t enter its current incarnation until two years later, when Penn National Gaming bought the location from Caesars for $610 million and rebranded it as the Hollywood Casino St. Louis. The facility has mostly remained the same since, although Penn did spend $7.3 million in 2017 to renovate more than 200 of the hotel rooms. Hollywood Casino St. Louis remains one of the flagship casinos in Missouri to this day.
