Century Casino Cape Girardeau

Century Casino Cape Girardeau is one of the smaller gambling venues in Missouri. It might be fair to call it a “locals” casino, as it maintains fewer than 1,000 machines and is not located near any of the state’s major population centers. Nevertheless, there are plenty of games to play, including slots and table games, as well as a small poker room.

The nearest major city to the casino is St. Louis, which is roughly two hours’ drive from Cape Girardeau. In fact, Cape Girardeau is almost equidistant from St. Louis as it is from Memphis, Tennessee, which is about 2.5 hours south. All three cities are accessible via I-55. There is no hotel at Century Casino Cape Girardeau, but there are dining options and meeting places that you can use when you visit, and the casino staff can give you several recommendations for lodging nearby.

You must be at least 21 years old to play games at Century Casino Cape Girardeau.

Games at Century Casino Cape Girardeau

Century Casino Cape Girardeau is not a large property. You’re unlikely to mistake it for a Las Vegas-style casino. However, it is a solid option for residents of southeastern Missouri and visitors from southern Illinois and western Kentucky. It can be a nice change of pace as well for patrons of Harrah’s Metropolis in Illinois.

Let’s discuss the different games you’ll find at Century Casino Cape Girardeau in Missouri.

Slot machines

There are more than 800 slot machines at Century Casino Cape Girardeau. The vast majority are penny slots. It is also possible to play slot machines with coin values as high as $25. There are nearly 100 options at both the 25-cent and $1 levels. Top slots at Century Casino Cape Girardeau include the following:

  • Ultimate Fire Link
  • Wonder 4 Boost
  • Coin-O-Mania

Century Casino Cape Girardeau is also home to electronic table games and video poker machines.

Table games

Along with the slot machines, there are nearly two dozen table games at Century Casino Cape Girardeau.

Interestingly, the casino’s management appears to have made a conscious decision to vary the lineup of games beyond the normal staples. Although the website mentions blackjack, recent Missouri Gaming Commission filings show that the only options are for Trilux blackjack games, and there is no roulette in the casino at all.

While the roster of table games can change frequently at any casino, here are the options currently available at Century Casino Cape Girardeau, according to the state:

  • Mini-baccarat
  • Mississippi Stud
  • No Craps Craps
  • Three Card Poker
  • Trilux Blackjack
  • Ultimate Texas Hold’em

Poker

There is also a four-table poker area at the property. It is not walled off, but it is located behind strategically placed stanchions.

The poker room does not offer tournaments at this time, but it does have poker cash game options for both Texas Hold’em and Omaha. Although the casino does not state so explicitly, we assume that the formats are for no-limit and pot-limit, respectively.

Will Century Casino Cape Girardeau have a sportsbook?

Sports betting remains illegal in Missouri for the moment. Legislative efforts to legalize the activity have thus far fallen short in the Missouri General Assembly. Given that legal sports betting could still come to Missouri, the next question would be which Missouri casino sites might open retail sportsbooks and/or partner with online books for mobile sports betting.

Century Casino Cape Girardeau is perhaps less likely than other Missouri casinos to launch a retail sportsbook. The location is too remote to serve large swaths of Missourians, and residents in Illinois, Tennessee, and Arkansas already have both online and live options at their disposal.

However, the property’s parent company, Century Casinos, operates Century Casino Central City in Colorado, home of Tipico Sportsbook Colorado. With some existing infrastructure already in place, it is conceivable that the company might decide to put a sports betting location in Cape Girardeau should the law change.

However, Cape Girardeau’s sister property in Missouri, Century Casino Caruthersville, is the more-likely choice due to its more favorable location. Besides serving Missouri sports bettors, a sportsbook there would also give options to people in nearby Tennessee, where sports betting is online-only.

All of which is to say that at this point, a sportsbook in Cape Girardeau appears to be a less-likely scenario.

Century Casino Cape Girardeau amenities

Because Century Casino Cape Girardeau is a smaller property and away from population centers, it does not offer the same amenities that you’ll find at other casinos in Missouri. The focus at the location is clearly on gambling.

The only non-gambling amenities at the site are two restaurants. If you get hungry, you can choose between Beacon 53 and the Red Star Grill. Beacon 53, so named because of its proximity to the beacon marker of the same name on the Mississippi River, is closer to a fine dining location. You can dine in an upscale locale with a wonderful view of the river itself.

Red Star Grill, on the other hand, is a more casual location. It serves burgers, barbecue sandwiches, and similar menu items to go. If you want your fare from a location with lower prices and less formality, Red Star is the place for you.

The Winner’s Zone rewards program

The Winner’s Zone is the Century Casinos rewards program. It is available at all Century Casino locations, including the property in Cape Girardeau. As is the case with similar programs, each dollar you wager at Century Casino Cape Girardeau gets you points. You can redeem these points, dubbed “Century Points,” for bonus play, dining vouchers, hotel stays, and items at Century Casino gift shops.

The Winner’s Zone offers different levels of benefits and service through various tiers. Players receive a tier score based on the number of points they accrue. The Winner’s Zone is free to join at any Century Casino location, including at Cape Girardeau, and Century Casinos offers an app to help you track your point balances and offers.

Century Casino Cape Girardeau history

Century Casino Cape Girardeau is the newest casino in Missouri. The property has been in service since October 2012. It is also the final facility to open under the current MO gambling law, which permits 13 casinos in the state.

The casino began as the Isle Casino Cape Girardeau and offered more than 40,000 square feet of gambling space. Its initial owner, Caesars, operated it for seven years. Then in 2019, it sold the venue to its spin-off holding company, Vici Properties, and the casino’s operations to Century Casinos. Century immediately announced plans to rebrand the casino to its current incarnation.

The company has also indicated that a new hotel is part of its future plans for the facility.
